After passing the huge crowd, another trouble was waiting.
We can just follow the morning route back to the hotel. From here, walk
along the Opera street for 10 minutes with our back to the Opera House,
then get on the line 17 at Pyramides Station of Metro. The Opera House
is a target.
I don't know why, but the Opera street cannot be found anywhere. It is
now over 6:00 pm. The dark walking road is crowded, and the roadway is
also jammed with noisy horns. I was about at a loss being shot by Emiko's
concerned eyes.
At a signal, I talked to some classy middle-aged couple.
"Excusez-moi. Can you understand my English?"
The gentleman answered, "Surely. You have some trouble, aren't you?"
"Yes, where is Avenue de l'Opera?"
He smiled at me and nodded with his hand on my shoulder. Then the couple
led us to the street.
I shook hands with them for their kindness, and thought I had to change
my preconceptions that French people were putting on airs.
Another old man was also kind at a platform of Metro.
When I was wondering which platform was for Port de la Villet, he came and asked me. I told him about my worry in English, he said, "Not here, you have to go to the other side." Thanks to him I got to the other side platform, and saw him waving his hand smiling.
Some middle-aged lady (Arab?) gave up a seat for Emiko in Metro.
