Plitvice Lakes National Park

Plitvice Lakes National Park is located 110 km south from Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. We stayed two nights at Belle View Hotel by the lake and enjoyed the lakes and a lot of falls.

Our tour members left the hotel at 8:15, October 9, and went on a hike along the several lakes until 12:30 of lunch time.

I wonder how much the pictures taken by me inform. The lakes of emerald green, a variety of many falls, board walks across marshes, and the mountain paths with considerable ups and downs.
Surrounded by a variety of breathtaking views appearing one after another, we enjoyed the state of the real nature to the full forgetting any fatigue.

Yellow autumn tints with red leaves are now beginning. I have just remembered the senery in New England and Canada.

Not satisfied with this walking, our couple went on another hike during free time in the afternoon.
Though we generally followed a different route in the morning, we had almost no trouble thanks to the signs, getting captivated by a variety of different landscapes unfolding in succession.
Clean air in the autumn sky and the sounds of birds singing, ..... A little bit colder than the previous day, but the freshness was no more than now.
Over the planned time a bit, we arrived at the hotel in the evening at 5:30.

It was reported that Mr Obama, the President of the US, was nominated as the winner of Nobel Peace Prize. In the result, this news was the main topic on TV from the night to the next day.
Mr Obama seemed to be confused at first, but had a statement to accept it. The programs were mostly pros and cons about this matter in English. I was happy to understand them in my own way.

Another news at the same night. The conference between Mr Hatoyama, Japanese Prime Minister, and the President of Korea was reported in a short time. In the problem with North Korea, the reporter's comment "..... so little, so far ....." was stuck in my head.

Plitvice Lakes National Park

Plitvice Lakes is the oldest and largest national park in the Republic of Croatia. The park is situated in the mountainous region of Croatia, between the Mala Kapela mountain range in the west and northwest, and the Li?ka Plje?ivica mountain range to the southeast. Administratively, the park falls within two counties: Lika-Senj (90.7%) and Karlovac (9.3%).

With its exceptional natural beauty, this area has always attracted nature lovers, and already on 8 April 1949, it was proclaimed Croatia’s first national park. The process of tufa formation, which results in the building of the tufa, or travertine, barriers and resulted in the creation of the lakes, is the outstanding universal value, for which the Plitvice Lakes were internationally recognised on 26 October 1979 with their inscription onto the UNESCO World Heritage List. In 1997, the boundaries of the national park were expanded, and today it covers an area just under 300 km2.
