Mr. H and I have had a drinking party continuously once a month at a nearby
Chinese reataurant for a couple of years. He is a friend of mine at D Sports
Club close to my house.
Three months ago while drinking in the restaurant, he recommended to make
my own bread by myself with a serious look, adding "It is an easy
job." Moreover he said, "Putting necessary ingredients at the
required amount, a store-bought home bakery would make a loaf of bread
automatically and completely in some hours."
So many automatic home bakeries are shown at Y Electric Store. Among them,
I found and bought an excellent one on sale of half price because of replacement
even at the price of over 20 thousand yen.
However at home, I could not catch in mind what and how to do from the
thick manual in spite of reading the necessary part again and again. I
almost gave up at a loss, thinking "Is it because of my age?"
A helping hand was my daughter Yoshiko's couple. They brought their brown
home bakery, and she told me to use it for a while, saying, "I'll
show you how to make it."
I handed out the excellent one to the couple, and started the electric
baking with theirs by their help.
"Ingredients, first of all," Yoshiko goes to S Supermarket with
Emiko.
During the time, S-kun, son-in-law, has a clear-cut explanation of how
to use the home bakery with its manual. In short, after setting the stirring
metal in the bread case inside, each amount of the ingredients shown in
the page 27 should be tossed there. Then drop 3 grams of dry yeast into
the slot and switch on, and one loaf of bread will be ready in 4 hours
and 10 minutes.
As for the manual of 110 pages, S-kun says, "You can try various menus
by skimming over in your free time."
Anyway, this is my first time, so noticing my uneasy look, he says confidently,
"You are going to have an experience in a minute."
Yoshiko and Emiko came back with necessary ingredients including bread
flour in bags.
My experience starts under Yoshiko's patient advice.
1. Set a stirring metal in the bread case
2. Toss the following ingredients into the bread case Bread flour (250g),
butter (10g), sugar (17g), skim milk (6g), salt (5g) and water (180g)
3. Drop dry yeast (3g) into the yeast slot
4. Then switch on and push the start button
All of a sudden, the home bakery began the work making a loud sound.
"Wait for 4 hours and 10 minutes as shown, and you will see a nice
bread of your own."
Saying so, the doughter's couple went away with a sideward glance to my anxious look.
At the expected time, the home bakery made a sound of "Pi, Pi"
six times.
Opening the lid, I saw the bread of marvelous look in the case. I took
out the case from the bakery and shook it down several times to get the
bread, and then the following high-quality bread came out. Taste? Needless
to say.
One month has passed, during which I tried it five times in success.
Sorry to the bakery store, but it's stupid to compare the taste with any
others even in spite of my favoritism. The raison bread, in addition, was
much successful.
Emiko, my wife, has been admiring me during her every breakfast around
8 o'clock. Thanks to the daughter's couple, another daily pleasure joined
my everyday life.
Though it may be better to keep it secret for me, I would like to confess
one blunder.
Something wrong happened unexpectedly the day before yesterday.
Just after finishing the bake, I found half of the dry yeast left clinging
to the slot. Due to some irregular matter, it seemed the damp slot had
prevented the yeast from dropping down.
With no doubt the bread was as short as half of the length. Since the weight
was the same with the ones so far, it was too heavy to teeth and not crispy.
(I leave it as) I learned a lot from that, because the next will come out
well if my idea is right.
So, the following is today's work. (as of October 23, 2018)
