The largest torrential rain in the recorded history of Japan continued to hit the entire area of the west, Kyushu, Shikoku, Kansai, ...... for 10 days from the end of June, 2018. In the result, almost everywhere in such areas, mudslides, river flooding, submersion in villages, and hundreds of people isolated, ......
As of July 8, when the disasters began to be finally over, it was reported that more than 70 people were killed and the fate of more than 60 people were unknown.
While such terrible sights were reported everyday, our 4-day bus tour around Tohoku District began on July 4 at Niigata Station in Hokuriku District as a starting point.

It was cloudy here in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture on the day, July 4. Our couple left home at 6:30 a.m.
The Joetsu Shinkansen "Max Toki 307 departed from Tokyo Station at 8:24 with 31 tour members.

At 10:28, we arrived at Niigata Station. A large bus with a toilet was waiting.

From then on, our sightseeing in various places is going to be reproduced here with a large number of photographs. Most of the photos are by the Canon Power Shot SX530HS, bought a few days before departure. This trip was partly for testing this camera.

1. Sasagawa-nagare Flow

Wednesday, July 4

Located in Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture, "Sasagawa" is the old place name in this vicinity, and "nagare" is the flow of the tide toward the Japan Sea.
The sky was cloudy and just about to rain.
On the rear deck of the sightseeing boat, we looked around interesting sights of islands.
We enjoyed the 40-minute tour on a pleasure boat for the total sailing distance of 11 kilometers.
During the time, among the members I should have viewed many strange rocks and sights, though I cannot specify anything now.
Seagulls and black-tailed gulls gather along the way and chase our pleasure boat. They skillfully receive the breadcrumbs thrown by us in the air and on the surface of the sea, or directly from our hands,......
It was a familiar sight for me here and there, but as astonishing as ever.

The inn on the first day was "Takamiya" of Atsumi Onsen in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture.
We arrived before 4:00 p.m., soaked in the hot spring, and dinner was like this.

Today's bus mileage: 130 km. The distance was not so much, but there were many bumpy roads and curves. My wife Emiko, weak in the car, was apparently safe by a motion sickness pill.
